I don’t mob it that hard to need to change the settings. If you plan on going hard with your truck, you can either do the softer tune from Accutune or whatever off-road shop you get yours from or do the adjusters, either one would work, just depends on what you want to do and how hard you want to send it with your rig 👍🏻

    2 questions my good man...Is your hydro brakebooster leaking? My 03 has the same oil stain on the inner tire well, driver side. Scheduled to get it swapped out next week. How are the parts holding up? Neediing to change the same parts but undecided between Moog and Mevotech.

      @TheBeardedTortilla 3 місяці тому

      Good eye, yes, my Dad’s work truck does in fact have a leaking hydroboost system, looking to get that fixed soon as well. And for question 2, yes he has had zero clunks or steering play since we rebuilt the front end, it’s holding up great. He is a pool man so he does a ton of city driving and up and down changing road surfaces, holding up great still. My experience would recommend the Moog, for sure.

    Nothing like being able to create and build what YOU want. Why the white light and not amber though,Like the rest of the lighting. @TheBeardedTortilla 3 місяці тому

      Thank you, yeah I love making my own stuff over just buying simple bolt ons. To answer your question, I went with the white over the amber because I wanted to have the ability to see out further, being that these are a spot light beam and not a combo beam. However if I change my mind and want all amber, the great thing about Baja Designs is I can just change out the lens and not an entire new light.

    YOU WANT THE THERMOSTAT!!!!!!!!!!! ATF needs to be at a certain temperature to perform correctly. Too cold and it doesn't work as it's supposed to. You'll get harder shifts, thicker fluid to pump, less lubrication, and more wear on your transmission. I installed a cooler but am having trouble getting a t-stat installed cause now the transmission won't warm up to temperature it needs to be at. I've seen tons of these videos now and only a couple people know better. Sorry to harp on you but you DEFINATELY need that thermostat. Otherwise your putting extra wear on your trans because your ATF isn't lubricating correctly.

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla 4 місяці тому

      No worries, I appreciate the input but frankly it’s been trucking along great for the last year and a half, it still warms up to about 150 on a warm day, about 130 on a cool day. If I lived in a snowy area I would have left it but where I live it’s usually 80+ with that Transmission temp upwards of almost 200, all my experience has said hot fluid kills transmissions, I’ll make a follow up video if it ever dies due to too cool of fluid.

    • @exploringgodscountry

      @@TheBeardedTortilla sorry for all caps. I am climbing walls trying to find a tutorial on putting in the trans thermostat 😳 everybody is throwing them away. Not sure what trans fluid you are using. 150F would be bottom of operating range for dextron VI if memory serves me right. In hindsight I discovered factory does an awesome job of operating around the nominal of 175f... factory does suck if you get into some heavy duty stuff though... like offroad in summer temps with 4wd. And or if you do a high stall converter / fiddle with TCC tune. I did all the above. That was issue I ran into and wanted to swap coolers for. My setup is now running sub 100f... to 120f... way too cold. I think Derale sells a good thermal bypass I will try. Has been lots of fineggaling. Right now I have to put a box over the cooler. They weren’t difficult per say, it was more that it was holding my alignment way beyond what I had originally had. Now obviously the alignment was going to change either way but at the time I felt more comfortable keeping the stock cams in it due to the fact that I wasn’t going to be mobing the truck that hard in dirt or woops, just worked out better for me to fit my needs of a daily/light trail runner. If you plan on going hard on your truck in dirt and often, I highly recommend the dirt king alignment cams 👍🏻

    Great video! I can’t seem to get an answer from them. I have a 2018 Sierra and it seems like mine is setup a little different. The hot fluid from my transmission comes into the passenger side of the radiator and out the driver side. But I think their cooler is meant to cool the fluid after it goes through the radiator. So mine would be opposite - I feel like the fluid should go through the radiator first. Was yours that way?

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla 7 місяців тому

    All you need to do is run one power wire to your controller. These are LEDs and low draw, but understand if you just want to run just one light.

      Yeah, that’s what I thought too but I ran separate powers so that they would be turned on at different times. Worked out perfect 🤙🏻

    I run the low brake light option. I had the brighter one, and I was noticing that people would either stay way back or really up close when I was at a stop light.

      Nice, I think I run the lower option as well but honestly don’t remember. So far I haven’t had any issues with the tail light, it’s been awesome!

    By the way, another thing that will make your truck classier is the 2005-2009 Trailblazer Steering Wheel Air Bag Cover

      That would have been really cool, I agree. Unfortunately I learned about those air bags after I sold the truck to my dad

    What cooler you think is better this one or the mishimoto?

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla 9 місяців тому

      Honestly I think they are both great, they do the job as they need to of cooling the transmission temp better than stock. Depends on how much work you want to do I guess. I have the Mishimoto in my 2015 Silverado and it runs great, was a really nice kit for a clean install. On the older truck, the Tru Cool worked great for me to make my own brackets and such. I think it’s just preference.

    Hi, I am about to make my own wire harness too, just a question though did you run two sets of wire, one for each light? or did you run both light of one set of wire. Sorry if my question doesn't make sense but i hope you understand my question lol. Thank you.

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla Рік тому

      Hi, it makes perfect sense and sorry for the late response. So the video I posted right before this one is talking about making the wiring harnesses, I did run 2 harnesses, 1 for each light. I did that for both safety of the circuit, as to not over power or over heat the wires and also slow me to have the lights on at different times separate from each other. Hope that helps and good luck with making your harness!

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla Рік тому

      No sir. When I removed the light, I just traced the harness into the light to see what light was run by which wire on the truck side connector.

    Does it matter if inlet and outlet ports are facing downward? After my overhauled transission was completed and installed, i told mechanic to install transmission cooler and disconnect from radiator. He installed cooler with ports facing down like yours. Problem is i've been looking at youtube videos and most people install cooler with ports facing sideways. One youtuber says if ports are installed downward the fluid won't reach all the way to the top of cooler fins, only 50% of cooler will be utilzied. Thanks for video, any feedback appreciated.

      Thanks for asking! That truck is still in my family and I can tell you, the cooler runs perfect. I’m the hot AF summers, the transmission runs approx 100-120 degrees cruising down the road with 100+ ambient temps. Towing up hill, with about a 5000lbs boat, AC on, I’ve never seen the transmission pass 160. I hope that helps.

    Aren't you blocking too much airflow to the main rad by installing that top bracket like that? Just curious. Thanks

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla Рік тому

      No worries at all. Nope, the top bracket has never really caused an cooling issues. The truck is still in my family and still runs right at 208 engine coolant temp and around 100-120 on transmission temp in the hot CA/AZ summers.

      @FountainFox Unlimited awesome to hear! I've an 05 4.8l that came with no tran cooler at all. I don't tow ever, but I just hit the 100k miles mark and I'm considering the 40k cooler to extend the life of the transmission as much as possible. Your vid was very helpful, thank you!

      I’m not actually familiar with what a dual stage air bag connector is but these air bags are just one connector on them. Definitely make sure to disconnect the vehicles battery and let the voltage leave the system before messing with any air bags

    • @TheBeardedTortilla
      @TheBeardedTortilla Рік тому

      Yes! As a matter of fact the GMT 800 body styles are all mostly the same. If you notice, the caddie, H2 hummer and all GM SUVs of that era are the same exact steering wheel style, all that changes is color and the emblem on the air bag. These trucks and suvs are like adult legos, it’s great!
